📌Gaining weight during training? The reason why might surprise you.
It's possible you are gaining muscle, especially if you are adding lots of strength training to your running schedule and you are new to lifting weights.
But for most marathoners and half marathoners, it's very difficult to gain a lot muscle with all the running you are doing.
Is it possible to underfuel and over eat? Absolutely! It's also possible to be "overweight" (whatever that means to you) and underfuel.
This is why trying to lose fat in marathon training is not the best idea. It's not that it's impossible, but the goals and strategies are so different.
If you want to use running to help you lose weight, awesome! If you want to train for a marathon and have the amazing sense of accomplishment that comes with that, fantastic!
Just don't try to do both those things at the same time or you won't do either one as well as you could.
