Makeup agencies are reaching out as we speak to fill places for their artists’ SS23 Fashion Week teams.
So what should you include/not include in your emails to them to get those much coveted spots?
DO
- Your research! Make sure you know which artists at the agency do fashion week shows.
- Keep it brief - two or three short paragraphs total.
- Let them know what cities you are available to work in (London/Paris/Milan/NY - bear in mind you pay your own expenses!)
- List a few artists you have assisted or shows you’ve worked on - if you haven’t yet, don’t worry!
- Feel free to mention your interest in working with specific artists by name, the less copy and pasted your email looks the better! But let them know you will be happy to assist any of their artists.
- Include a brief PDF portfolio of your cleanest, highest quality work.
- Include show images if you have them and a client/assisting/show list if relevant to your experience.
DO NOT
- Send emails filled with spelling and grammar mistakes.
- Send long corporate looking CVs.
- Send your heaviest wildest makeup - they want to see natural skin, clean lines, a contemporary editorial style of makeup application.
Good luck, and let me know what shows you’re doing!
