Well, when travelling across Spiti Valley, one of my co- traveller asked me how this transformation took place when it comes to travel?? (Gone were the years, I was famous for being certified book addict and a kind of geek, as everyone assumed 😜)
But whatever, my life wasn’t stultifying ever! Massive part of my nomadic journey started since I was 8 year old Banker’s kid. Moving around here and there, for every 2 or 3 years! Meeting new kids, adapting to new school’s variant ecosystem and more importantly mediums of instructions. Transition from Kannada medium to English medium at class 4th was terrible but still ended up being a topper and paradoxically life at every moment seemed to be different!
Yet 6 different schools, 10 different homes, my life has been a frantic rollercoaster ride. My dad always tried his level best to give me the best education wherever he got a transfer. Mom emphasised on excellence!! 😜😀Even short distractions were turned into academia😀 Changing from one place to another place was a kind of fam vacation for me and my sister. I never had a fixed childhood-friend so far I claim as mine forever . But today, am in contact with all my classmates and teachers, happy and cheerful as always!!
So far I never felt pity about anything happened so far about this constant change, but honestly “home” is something where I stayed comfortable!!! Adapting to the newer vegetation, food and climatic variations taught me lot of lessons to be constantly sustainable throughout the life!
Once I started to travel solo (since 2018), I felt as much at home in the towering mountains of Spiti and Ladakh, as I did under the swaying palms of Uttar Kannada and Goa, little home stay in Malang, and the lavish life in Singapore!! Just like that HOME had no physical embodiment , its the feeling of becoming familiar with unfamiliar!
📍Wrote this sitting on the peak of Chicham Village , located about 22 kilometers from Kaza, at an altitude of 13,615 ft. and stirred up all kinds of feelings inside me!!
