❄❄
Several locations in New South Wales have received their best dumping of snow this year, including right across the Blue Mountains.
The heaviest falls were reported in Orange, Bathurst, Armidale and surrounds.
Meanwhile, Barrington Tops in the Upper Hunter region, Mount Polblue and Dingo Gate also received snow overnight.
While cooler than average conditions should linger for the rest of the week, a spokesperson from the Bureau of Meteorology told the ABC that "we're not expecting any more snow for quite some time (and the) system has taken what little snowfall there was and moved it out to sea".
There are reports that the freezing conditions have caused black ice (thin transparent and often invisible sheet of ice) to form on some major roads, with the State Emergency Service (SES) urging motorists to take care. The Great Western Highway and Bells Line Road have battled closures today in the vicinity of Katoomba, Mount Victoria, and Lithgow.
The snow comes after a strong cold front reached eastern New South Wales yesterday afternoon.
It caused temperatures to dramatically plummet, none more so than the mercury in Sydney, which was sitting on 23.2°C just after midday before registering just 10°C at 3pm.
