On August 4th, a huge leap forward in the restoration of class 37 37023 as the old power unit (engine and generator) was lifted out with the aid of a 95 ton mobile crane. This allows the engine bay to be cleaned, degreaced and painted ready for the new overhauled power unit to be dropped back in. And then, after a marathon of connecting it back up it will be a case of testing it out to see what other issues may be lurking unseen in this veteran of the uk rail haulage industry.
