#MidolPartner Be honest. What’s the real reason?
Did you know that when changing plans due to their period symptoms, 90% of menstruators have given an excuse instead of saying the real reason?*
While it may seem easier to just make up a more acceptable reason in these scenarios, doing so only further perpetuates the stigmas around periods and the people who have them. When we fail to acknowledge the reality of period symptoms and the effects that they have on us, we fail to create the time and space to rest.
I have partnered with @midol, a brand that is dedicated to a society free of period shame, which is why they’re launching The Real Reason: A Social Experiment. The Real reason confronts the perception that period symptoms are a frivolous, unacceptable reason to take the time you need from work/school, social commitments, or even that giant to-do list. For anyone who has experienced them, disruptive and annoying period symptoms are not something you can just push through. However, true power can be found in the comfort in owning your truth as a menstruator.
