August's Bird Walk will be taking place on Sunday the 28th! Sign up now if you'd like to join us for a walk through our downtown loop. You'll keep an eye trained on your surroundings looking for our avian neighbors while our educators share a little bit about how bird populations in the Olympia area have changed along with their environment. The route for our Bird Walk tours is electric wheelchair tested and approved! https://birdwalks.eventbrite.com/ Estuarium Bird Walks happen every other month on the 4th Sunday, are 2 hours long, and cover approximately 2 miles. Did you guess what creature was inside those eggs? These are Opalescent Squid eggs! These squids only live for about 6-9 months. The females anchors hundreds of eggs inside capsules with a sticky substance. The California Sea Cucumber can be found in Puget Sound. This sea cucumber has tube feet, like a sea star, that it uses to walk around. They also have pseudospines, these cone shape structures are actually soft and squishy. Be careful with them though as they can spit out their organs in defense.
