Today marks World Refugee Day. On this day, and on any other day, let us all remember that nobody leaves their home unless they are forced to leave their home.
Honored to be the founder of @everydayrefugees Foundation. Visit the foundation’s link in bio and today’s story to see our most recent project, Encourage, Educate and Empower.

On Mother’s Day, let us all remember that behind the word "refugees" there are people, who were forced to leave their homes and hopes, their families and memories behind in search for a new, safe home.
Behind the word "refugees" there are mothers such as Umm Hassan, a Syrian refugee who changed the diaper of her daughter Rudayna on a railway track in Croatia. Khadija, a Syrian refugee who shielded her daughter Fatimah against the wind in a tented settlement in Jordan. Samina, an internally displaced Pakistani who tended to her children while sleeping. Yulia, a Ukrainian refugee who comforted her daughter Katya after crossing the border from Ukraine to Romania. Aziza, an Afghan refugee with her daughter Lal Mina in Pakistan. Razia, an Afghan refugee who tended to her son Omid in a square in Greece. Nori, an internally displaced Pakistani who played with her son Baber outside their makeshift tent and last a mother, her child and balloons in Afghanistan.

Earth from above, with carpets of blossoming tulips in the Netherlands.
I captured these images a few days ago while flying over fields in the province of North Holland, part of a story about the country's flower season that I have been working on since last year.

It is never just a picture, it is a voice, it is a testimony and it is a message that lives forever.
Since June 2021, my photo exhibition “Voices” has been traveling in Portugal, started in Coimbra then to Porto and next week “Voices” will be on display in Valongo until April 30, 2022, at Forum Cultural de Ermesinde during Transeuropa festival in Portugal.
“Voices” is a selection of images that spans over a decade of documenting the daily life and challenges refugees, local communities and internally displayed people face in different parts of the world. Make sure to visit if you are around. #muhammedmuheisen@everydayrefugees#everydayrefugees

For the last couple of weeks I have been at the Romanian-Ukrainian border to document some of the stories of the women, children and the elderly who fled the war in Ukraine.
Seen here; Hanna and her 3-year-old daughter Kira; Nikol, 12, from Kharkiv; Yulia and her daughter Katya; Ukrainian refugees waiting to board a train to Bucharest from Suceava; 3-year-old Andriy; Nina and her husband Nikolai from Kyiv; Diana, 4, blows a kiss from a bus transporting her and her mother; last a photo with the name Mia written on it left on the ground by a tent at the Romanian-Ukrainian border.
During these couple of weeks, I was humbled to join a team of @everydayrefugees Foundation giving a hand to people fleeing the war. We distributed hundreds of footwear from @keeneurope#muhammedmuheisen#everydayrefugees#makingadifference
