GRATITUDE AND ABUNDANCE 🦪🍸✨celebrated my @elledecor September issue last week with friends, family, and loved ones—a thing I never do. But it was my third cover this year, my second September issue, and my first ELLE Decor moment, so I took the time. Besides, as @maraakil told me, when we do so, we honor our dance with God ❤️ to the next time we gather, we’ll be toasting my book deal 🥂

Such a dream-filled assignment for @elledecor’s September issue! ☁️ Blessed to have interviewed my long-time inspiration @maraakil about her heart’s desire: her family’s dream home ✨located in Hancock Park and designed by the genius @nightpalm, the space is a confluence of her hopes and dreams and those of her ancestors. I loved learning the Hollywood powerhouse would tour the neighborhood when she was starting out and fantasize about owning a home here one day. So this full-circle moment for the family is years in the making and a powerful lesson in intention and allowing ourselves (especially Black folks) to live big. As a fan of Mara’s work, she’s taught me a lot of lessons from afar, but this one has really stuck with me, as I am sure it will for others 🫶🏾 - Tour this gorgeous space that boasts dedicated individual sanctuaries for each of the family members, a moving Black art collection, and a walk-in closet that almost brought me to tears!
