Just before we knew about The Corona Virus, a visit last November to the Larco Museum that holds the largest and most important archeological collection of ancient Peru in the world with its remarkable gold and ancient jewelry collection and world renowned erotic collection. Don’t forget to enjoy lunch and a Pisco Sour in its delightful café-restaurant overlooking the luscious gardens. . Sorry for the videos, I’m terrible at it 😳🙄

Since this pandemic erupted in our lives like a surreal dream, some images of George Tooker’s paintings had started to hunt me, I began recognizing them, there is something very familiar in the hunted eyes, the muted screams, the pained expressions... all that quite horror I failed to see before. With all the evil insanity that has been unleashed I find myself falling through a black hole of shame and disgust and I am scared of what we are. Despite of the fact that these atrocities had been happening all over the world to different races and genders through the centuries, we still allow it to happen now, in front of our eyes, like an explosion of something rotten we silently carry inside failing to acknowledge it and take responsibility for it, so it grew and exploded and now is all over our made up faces dripping from our mouths with the stench of brutality and inhumanity soaking our every fiber. We all had suffered injustice in one way or another but to pretend to compare it to the injustice and brutality black people had suffered in this country is to be deranged. I’m not denying the Native Americans genocide, I’m just talking about the house that is burning right now, we need to stop it, even if you don’t want to because the fire will spread to yours, we are all under the same storm, but let’s not pretend we are in the same boat, we have a voice, we have power in numbers, we have love, we are the same, we are one with the planet, we are destroying everything, let’s stop. This is the crossroads, which path are we going to take? The police seemed to have gone mad, they went insane for blood and destruction, pure evil it seems... but wait... who is sending them? Who is instructing them? Who is giving them directions? Who is bringing them to the edge of their mental capacity ? Who is protecting corruption and training them for this? We should have stopped this a long time ago, everyday, little by little, with a thousand acts of kindness, with our votes, electing decent people, throwing out the corrupt, let our votes count.

I’m in Peru accompanying my mother who is sick, we are eight brothers and sisters and most of us are here with her. I feel so lucky to be able to spend this precious time in her company. On Easter Sunday I was with mom, she wasn’t doing well so we didn’t really celebrated it, when I came back to my brother’s house where I’m staying I decided to cheer us up with an Easter table, went to the grocery store, grabbed a few things I saw on the aisle leftover from Easter and put it together. We had our celebration after all and the opportunity to give thanks for all the blessings despite of the circumstances. This too shall pass. #quarentinestories .
