Thank you to @_productofculture_ and Ms Marvel and Disney for this amazing highlight of our culture ❤️🥰 -- @msmarvelofficial Change is HERe! Check out this exclusive art from @Manal_Mirza_ and find out what inspired her in Episode Two of #MsMarvel. - There were so many elements that were included in episode 2 that stuck out and made me chuckle and think, “that is so relatable!” and “literally me!!” from Kamala and Nakia rushing to the mosque to Kamran and Kamala bonding over a Swet Shop Boys song. Above all, seeing a Muslim character who wears Hijab such as Nakia was so special. As someone who wears the Hijab (headscarf), I had always felt that we were always misrepresented in the media. However, seeing Nakia stand up for what she believes in and seeing how Kamala and her support each other through their friendship is extremely refreshing. In this artwork, I chose to include intricate patterns that are traditionally seen in South Asian, Turkish, and Persian miniature paintings, to illustrate the rich tradition and cutlure that many of us come from. In addition, I wanted to highlight the strength of Nakia's character in this piece as it represents the resilience and determination of Muslim/South Asian Women around the world and in Ms. Marvel.
