New work for @RevoltTV, which came together in essentially 24 hours in February. Thank you @LegendaryLade for allowing me to dream this up with you and trusting my vision. The first concept that came to mind was places you would never wear these sneakers too. Let's be honest, a lot of these sneakers will never be worn off a carpet. We also created a fake movie theater in my apartment, don't melt Jolly Ranchers unless you have incredible ventilation. Check out the article for all the images, this is just a bts snap from my phone. #LVandNike
We created this story the day after Russia attacked Ukraine and it felt wrong to post, it still does. Social media is hard when the world continues to fall apart with no superglue (I'll even take dollar store tape) in sight to help at least hastily put it back together. I understand that two things can coexist, in the same respect that not a day of what happened and goes on in Afghanistan, Syria, Palestinian, and Myanmar escape my thoughts. More so, this country and the endless Series Finale energy each day brings.
Moral guilt for wanting to entertain in a humorless (and often hopeless) space, to focus on the shallowness (or beauty of a lucky life) while endlessly pondering deep thoughts with no easy resolution. But, I've decided to post for now. Until the heaviness creeps back and I can't take away a single second of attention that belongs elsewhere.
The final shot from the Spring Bling 2022 series with @ElisiaMirabelli. Absolutely adore the vibe of @MachandMach, especially the endless bling they bring to us as a brand. Which has (luckily) pushed so many others to also embrace the delightful tackiness and maximalism of fashion. It’s not only fun to escape, but important as well.
Just don’t ask me to identify any of the flowers, your guess is as good as mine.
Story time: nearly 8 years ago (Coachella weekend 1) I launched my Instagram channel the same weekend I launched @SamsungMobileUSA —I decided to take the challenge and use IG for it’s original intention… photos from my phone only. I've been incredibly loyal to this, only "cheating" twice (once when Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci came to NY and the other when I was shooting a festival and Janet Jackson looked right at me. I think both were worth breaking my code for.)
I wanted to prove that 1) you can take amazing photos from your phone and challenge yourself (same concept as BBV, same main pillar of strategy for Samsung) 2) share how I see the world that helps shapes my professional creativity.
It's come at a potentual cost; people don't realize how much work I've managed to create over the years because it's often in a fleeting story post. Also, it's probably repelled people lurking me further professionally, not being bothered to click the link to my portfolio site. I don't want to change the core of how I run my Instagram. I have at least 50 phone snaps I'm sitting on that should eventually be shared with the world. But today, I wanted to share a personal creative project not shot on my phone (although the phone photos still slap) created with the incredible @ElisiaMirabelli (thanks again for the intro @Carolin_Ramsauer)
I don't think I've ever made personal studio work related to still life, but I knew I wanted to focus on new luxury designers in this short series. If you would like to hear about the creative process, feel free to ask! I'll share a little more in the next post.
Spring Bling (2022) will roll out into 3 posts because one had to be a 4x5, haha. And each photo deserves our full attention. As always, thanks for reading, sharing, and caring. I sincerely appreciate it.
