To quote The Wombats, ‘I’m back in Liverpoool’ 😃. It was a particularly rainy Sunday last weekend and I figured what better way to spend it than with a ‘DUO ROAST (Beef & Chicken)’ at: 📍 @ma_boyles_alehouse_and_eatery , Tower Building, The Strand, Liverpool 📍 Located in an iconic tower building relatively close to the Albert Dock, Ma Boyles is a historic pub that serves cocktails, local ales and delicious home-cooked food in a relaxed setting. I’d actually heard lots of great things about the scran here (in particular the Sunday Roast) prior to visiting and thought it was time JIM BOB tried it! I made an advance booking the evening before and upon arrival was given a very warm welcome before being seated. 😀 I already knew I was going to get a roast, (although I was VERY tempted by the ‘Scouse’ and ‘Scouse Pie’!), my initial dilemma before browsing the menu however was whether I go for beef or chicken 🤔 Thankfully this wasn’t even an issue, as for £17 they do a ‘Duo Roast’ where you can choose any 2 cuts of meat 😃 🍗 🥩. The meal arrived quickly and was hot and fresh. The ‘slow roasted beef brisket’ was absolutely gorgeous and there were two big thick slabs of it for me to enjoy! It was very tender, extremely tasty and almost melted in the mouth 🤤. The ‘pan fried skin-on herby chicken supreme’ was also top quality and particularly JUICY! If you do only get one though, you gotta go beef!! The trimmings were brilliant too. Highlights included the carrots which tasted like they were cooked in butter and the giant fluffy yorkie! The roasties were also lovely and crispy, although not QUITE as nice as me ACTUAL MA’s roasties (they never are though tbf 🤣).
