An absolute first and an absolute thrill to see my first Glossy Ibises in the wild. There’s been a trio of these hanging out at the Rodney T. Miller Wetlands at Rock Springs environmental center. If you look at the range map of these wading shorebirds you will see that they are found in the southeast of the U.S. these guys are waaaaaaaaay far from home. With all the heavy winds the last few weeks they must have just blown off course. This little road-trip for these birds has certainly thrilled me to death! Not sure how long they will stay so I’ve enjoy seeing them on my way to and from the Illinois Raptor Center.
