My partner James was blocked from seeing this account for at least 6 months after I created it. Everyone else I loved / was acquainted with was blocked for literal years. I needed space, free from the weight of who I was to people, I needed a playground to explore who I was becoming. This is one of the greatest gifts of social media; the space to explore who we are becoming. If you are feeling restrained or held back as a creative right now, I seriously encourage you to go on a blocking spree. Block them all. Parents. Friends. The random guy from high-school. (Trust me they almost certainly won’t notice, or care. And if you’re really worried start a new IG and block them there) Give yourself the freedom to take up space without any preconceived perceptions of who you are. It’s like starting a fresh in a new country, no one has any opinions about who you are, or how you’re meant to show up - you get to choose. And I really hope however it is you choose to be witnessed, you share your art and your heart because we need that shit.
