📚 BOOK GIVEAWAY 📚
In honor of #NationalGriefAwarenessDay and my conversation with @ModernLoss' @RebeccaSoffer today, I'm thrilled to give away a copy of her bestselling book, "The Modern Loss Handbook: An Interactive Guide to Moving Through Grief and Building Your Resilience."
I've loved this book ever since she sent me an early copy this spring. The book contains practical evidence-informed tools and strategies to move through one’s grief with as much gentleness as possible and a healthy dose of firmness. I so appreciate her mind-body chapter and its acknowledgment of how grief is a whole-body experience. Rebecca's wit, warmth, and realness shine throughout the pages, which help you to stay connected to your person, yourself, and the world around you. And she has offered to personally dedicate a copy to YOU.

If we are to improve our collective conditions, we gotta give ourselves the gift of being able to slow down and process.
Yes, I know the social media algorithms and our current political divisions push us to scream loud and fast, but we can dial back those forces by naming them and choosing not to engage. Social media is a POWERFUL force that often uses our impulses against us. At its best, we lift the best parts of humanity; at its worse, we misunderstand each other and, even worse, dehumanize each other.
Reactivity and response are so different. Let’s sit with things a tiny bit longer, pretty please?
What do y’all think? *let me know in the comments* Am I the only one feeling this way?

My first green screen video. I get to not know the answers and I get to not have this be a perfect reel!
Message reads: Be gentle with your heart and frustrations you get to not know the answers.
I offered this meeeage to a dear Twitter friend and it resonated with her. I hope it resonates with you.

What permission can you offer you, given your current conditions? What direction might you need from yourself?
#RadicalPermission
Today, I'm giving myself permission to trust my flow and rhythms by moving at the speed of my humanity rather than modernity.
Are there days when you’re truly “feeling yourself”? Today, is one of those days for me and I’m going to ride it as long as I can by luxuriating in my basic goodness.
💙💜💙
What permission can you give yourself? I would love to hear it. Share this with a friend. Post your own permission slip and tag me.

In times like these I find refuge,
healing and joy in community.
Today, Tuesday, July 5th I'm creating a space for anyone who identifies as BIPOC to come together in community and practice.
I hope you can join me along with some amazing friends I've invited as special guests: Hayden Dawes @hcdawes, Dr.g @garudagrin, and Sah D’Simone @sahdsimone

Introduction Post! – II
.
As an aspiring, "Compassion Warrior", I am committed to contemplative practices to hear the "inner teacher" and the body's wisdom to show up on the outside with more courage. I hope to learn how to better sit with the world's and my own suffering from a non-defensive, dynamic place. 🧘🏾♂️
.
All of the world's suffering is connected, yet I am particularly interested in attending to the suffering of marginalized and oppressed populations (e.g., Black and brown communities, LGBTQIA+ communities). ✊🏾🏳️🌈
.
I am collectively seeking ways for us to bridge our very deep divides, so we can make our way back to one another, again and again. 🤝
.
For this post, I recently asked my followers/friends to let me know what they wanted people to know about me. Here’s what they said..
- My friend @wholementality recently wrote this: Hayden currently resides in Greensboro NC with his partner of 10 years, to whom, as of April 2020 he is recently married! Hayden is an avid crossfitter, traveler, dance partner, and reality-tv specialist. During the COVID pandemic, Hayden expanded his personal “radical permission” practice to create a #radicalpermission project for the greater community across social media platforms, to encourage people to set intentions with grace.”
-I’m a classically trained singer. (I do not sing nearly as much as I used to, I have to be inspired for it to happen). I generally know if my mood is in a not so good place because I’m not jamming to something.
- I’m inspired by the world’s change makers. This is not an exhaustive list: @brenebrown, @oprah , @pjpalmer39 , James Baldwin, Byard Byard Rustin, @beyonce, bell hooks, and @anipemachodron. And also normal folks such as yourself who show up and allow yourself to be seen, while seeing others.
-My partner and I watch Below Deck on Bravo, and sometimes when I’m feeling the need for an even guiltier pleasure we are watching 90-day fiancé. But honestly, I am been loving Schitt’s Creek lately. I feel most like a Moira. Please no spoilers.
