โข๐ I still vividly remember my trip to the Chichu Art Museum located in the islands of Naoshima, Japan. Chichu, meaning โin the earthโ shares the ideal of being immersed in nature, and Japanese architect Tadao Ando manifested that in this unsheltered minimalistic atrium with monumental slabs of undecorated concrete. This clash of Buddhist simplicity and modern brutalist ideas can be felt as you enter the atrium, as the use of raw materials and modern techniques, and the semi open space blur the boundaries of the interior and nature, and rays of sunlight that masterfully shower on the concrete (often ignored) allow the architecture to transform discreetly yet aesthetically and is art in its own right. For an instant, the contemporary world seems distant in this tranquil space, and you can immerse yourself in the environment, simply brutally. โ๏ธ๐โข
