Dear world.
Standstill is finally available for all to watch for free - link in bio (with French and Spanish subtitles!) as we approach world diabetes day on November 14th. We’re so grateful to everyone who had a helping hand in this film. Please, LIKE, SHARE, TAG and COMMENT on YouTube as much as you can! Thanks to the Quebec Council of the Arts (Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec), without which this film would not have been made.
Here is how @omeletocom describes the film:
‘’Beyond the suspense and power of its storytelling, what’s powerful about “Standstill” is how it situates diabetes as an invisible condition… And its invisibility can prove perilous if the unthinkable happens and bystanders have no idea what is happening. Like many of the best stories, the film puts us in the footsteps of this common condition and illuminates, moment by moment, just how dizzying, scary and frightening it can be when it takes a dangerous turn.’’
Hope this film stays with you well beyond seeing it.

Just love this crew shot repping light, sound, grip and costume departments with some of the most hard-working people I know taking a well-earned break on a 37 degree Celsius kind of day. @standstillshortfilm
Massive hands up to friend and key collaborator @derekbranscombe . Working with him on Standstill was such a great ride. He saw me, the reasons why I needed to make this film and used his talent and sensitivity to push the ways in which we could tell it.
In this photo, he is following the lead character Amanda (Victoria Diamond) in a super physical, continuous, 5-min take, which is my favourite part of the film. 🏋️

Directing actors is definitely my favourite part of the entire process and working with Victoria Diamond was pure joy. Her instincts, ideas, commitment and trust were instrumental in shaping Standstill.

2/2 Before and after. The idea and the execution of a shot in Standstill. It amazes me how precise you can be in communicating with your team when you flesh ideas out on paper (Regardless of drawing skills 😅).
