Today’s title from my collection is the 2016 film Manchester By the Sea starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Lucas Hedges, Kyle Chandler, and Gretchen Mol. After the death of his brother, a young man is shocked to discover that he has been named guardian of his teenage nephew. Because of this, he is forced to return to his generational hometown…a fishing village that forces him to deal with a distressing past. The film is considered to be one of the best films released that year. It was nominated for six Oscars winning two for Best Actor (Affleck) and Best Original Screenplay. The themes of depression/grief/PTSD and family dysfunction are explored here making for an interesting drama. I found this copy (with slipcover) at a garage sale.
