Raissa's Biography
@thisisraissa
After only a few years of activity, Raissa has become a promising singer songwriter with a remarkable music creativity. The Malaysian-British artist was born in Spain and had a quite singular childhood. Moulded by a highly multicultural environment, Raissa grew up in different cities around the world including Beijing, Sidney and Kuala Lumpur, then she moved to London to study cultural criticism at Central Saint Martin.
Always being a big presence in Raissa’s household, music naturally turned into her true passion and a way of getting herself emotional support. In 2020 the artist debuted with the single “Bullying Boys” followed by a retro vibe anime-inspired music video. After few singles, the artist dropped her first EP “HEROGIRL”. The sound of this project is defined by minimal grooves and distinctive bass and synth that make every track unique and catchy.
Her lyrics are deeply honest and vulnerable revealing opened wounds and private feelings. As the singer said in an interview, the writing process reminds herself to keep the hopes up no matter what and to choose kindness to deal with mental health.
Raissa knows well how to display her creative mind directing every single music video by following her precise taste and interests, first of all the reiteration of her attachment to the world of anime.
