Jean Schlumberger’s 1947 Thorns clip with a 47-carat sapphire made for Millicent Rogers, heiress to the Standard Oil fortune. When this jewel was acquired for the Tiffany Archives, the director of the department explained that despite the brooch’s tenancy to shred the owner’s stylish gowns, Rogers wore it and its sister piece in morganite with great joy nonetheless. Shown here is Schlumberger’s design rendering for the jewel, courtesy the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. #tiffanyandco#visionandvirtuosity
