In addition to seeing its spectacular scenery, a visit to the Canadian Rockies means being surrounded and potentially interacting with wildlife.
Photographer Dan Schykulski (@danschyk) has put together a guide on how to interact with and photograph wildlife safely.

Those good ole’ prairie sunsets never get old. The skies are lit on fire in Winnipeg on this summer evening overlooking some of the city’s downtown core.

Enjoying a fresh cup of coffee on a picture perfect morning by the lake. One of the absolute joys of summer. ☕️

Quiet, calm, and reflective on the coast in Burgeo.
One of the most beautiful days along the south coast of Newfoundland.

Amazing mountain views aren’t the only thing waiting for you when driving through the Rockies, there are also a plethora of wildlife that you may encounter along your journey.

A big part of spending the summer in the prairies is cozying up and unwinding in homey cabins like this one located in the outskirts of Manitoba.
Have you spent anytime in a cabin so far this summer?

The climb is tough, and the incline is very steep, but the views up top are some of the most rewarding I’ve ever seen. This hike in Sarrail Ridge Kananaskis is a must-visit for anyone going to the Rockies. The trail is also in grizzly territories so make sure to do it with a group!

There are a few things better than getting away and being surrounded by lakes and mountains.
Where are you spending the weekend?

On the weekend I spotted a flash of these rhododendrons from the road and was compelled to investigate. What I found was so incredible that I literally galloped about out of delight. I had stepped out of modern-day Vancouver into a castle garden.
One solitary rhododendron blossom is pretty. An entire bush of their blossoms grants a joy like seeing an old friend. But fill a grove with these bushes and it’s so magical your heart hurts. Sprinkle these groves all over the city, and now you’ve got the best place to be in the world this week. Everywhere I turn, the sidewalks are adorned in candy colours, the pavement carpeted in soft petals of a rainbow between pastels and fluorescents. We are living in a movie.
When I’m inside the cave-like embrace of a rhododendron bush, it whispers safety to me. It promises me a plan B, that if I ever was in need of a place to sleep in spring, I would be protected within the walls of a rhododendron. Each bloom would act as a charm to ward off the dangers outside until I was ready to emerge, sticky with bud casings and drunk on perfume.
