With his booming voice, elemental and strong, bass Stefan Egerstrom sang an Anglo-Scottish ballad, telling the story of a young lord poisoned by his lover.
It was one of the many incandescent moments rehearsed for the latest installment of the Schwabacher Recital Series, on stage this Wednesday, April 27.
Tomorrow, Egerstrom takes the stage alongside pianist Andrew King, soprano Elisa Sunshine and soprano Anne-Marie MacIntosh, a new addition to the night’s program.
Together, they perform solos from a wide range of composers, from Jean Sibelius to Franz Liszt to Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Witness Sunshine bring to life the wives of England’s King Henry VIII with Libby Larsen’s “Try Me, Good King.” Drift away on memories of youth with MacIntosh’s rendition of “Quatre Chansons de Jeunesse” from Claude Debussy. And experience the might of Egerstrom’s voice as he channels the anguish a parent feels for their dying child.
