Yes, borders are open and Pohnpei is getting busy again, busy like the North Shore in 1950, or Byron Bay in 1960, but with fast internet connection.
Most people coming to Pohnpei today (actually all) are here for work in many different fields.
Many of the hotels are booked and rental cars sold out!
Again, my advice for anyone coming for the next surf season or any other reason is, book early. Put in a deposit, lock in your days.
Vaccination requirements (no comments on this please as I don't make these rules) are the first single or double shots, plus a booster. No PCR test needed at this time.
As today Air Niugini is not flying from Australia so you would have to find an alternative route through Japan/Philippines/somewhere in Asia to Guam and Pohnpei or Australia/Hawaii/Pohnpei.
Not the cheapest or easiest way, but the only way to get to Pohnpei from Australia at this time.
People flying from the USA and Hawaii are at an advantage now. Not only are there daily flights to Pohnpei, but it looks like there won't be many surfers coming from Australia for now (crowd advantage).
Could be the most uncrowded season start we had in years.
Like someone said in the comments, open, but not open! @wadegoodall shot by @johnbarbs671#pohnpei#pohnpeisurfclub#ppass#surftrip#surf#barrels#perfectwave
