The young woman sits in calm, blue water, the source of life. There is a wound on her arm, a deep red mark: It is an injury that shows her loyalty and devotedness to Queen; it is a self-sacrifice to save her friend. The green of the overwhelming background supports a slight moment of hope and rescue – but there is also cold white snow. It shows her loneliness, but in Christian iconography it is also a symbol for purity and virtue.
