🎉 Happy 90th Birthday, NASA astronaut David R. Scott — the first person to drive on the Moon!
Scott flew on Gemini 8 and Apollo 9, and was Spacecraft Commander on Apollo 15.

📷 — This photograph, taken by astronaut James B. Irwin on July 31, 1971 during the Apollo 15 mission on the lunar surface, shows Astronaut David R. Scott in the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) for the return trip to the Lunar Module, Falcon, with rocks and soil collected near the Hadley-Apernine landing site. Apollo 15 was the first mission to use the LRV, a lightweight, battery powered electric car that provided the astronauts with improved mobility. Overall, the LRV enabled the Apollo 15 crew to log a record 18 hours, 37 minutes of exploration, traversed a total of 17.5 miles, and returned stunning live TV images to Earth. The LRV was designed and developed by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
📷 — This image, taken on March 6, 1969, shows the Apollo 9 Command and Service Modules docked with the Lunar Module. Apollo 9 astronaut Dave Scott stands in the open hatch of the Command Module, nicknamed "Gumdrop," docked to the Lunar Module "Spider" in Earth orbit. His crewmate Rusty Schweickart, lunar module pilot, took this photograph from the porch of the lunar module. Inside the lunar module was Apollo 9 commander Jim McDivitt. The crew tested the orbital rendezvous and docking procedures that made the lunar landings possible.
