His message to us was always that we as queer people have the power, and a responsibility, to use our voices to uplift and defend our community against injustice. Larry didn't ask politely for us to take action during the AIDS crisis. He told us: ‘You are going to die, and you are going to die very, very soon unless you get up off your fucking tushies and fight back.’ Our Black Trans brothers and sisters are dying and it is unacceptable. We must fight for them.
