This photograph was made in the house where the B52s lived together. The room was the “sewing” room, a place where Robert Molnar, who lived with them, made his creations. It’s on this shoot I believe I first met @robertmolnarnyc. He designed clothes and helped, as their friend, to ‘style’ the band. I don’t think I’d ever worked with a stylist before..I always did it myself. There were no budgets for that kind of support and often musicians did not think they would be considered “authentic” if someone was bringing in clothes for a shoot or “dressing” them. Times have changed. Making photographs with artists who were the same age as me could create long term friendships. It did with Robert and with the B52’s..especially with Kate. This image will be in my book of photos about music of the 80’s decade that comes out the end of September..They’re about to do their last tour …it’s hard to believe time has flown by as it has and like them I often feel it’s time to put to end one part of what we do to open doors, space, and time for new exploration. #1980s#b52s#music#newwave#rocknroll#photography#newyork
