Today was another hot July day on the South Rim! The high was around 90 °F (32 °C) and down inside the canyon > 110 °F (43 °C). Saturday, July 9, 2022. Lots of clouds passing through this afternoon, and even this rainbow appeared at sunset; but no rain. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for lower elevations of the Grand Canyon thru 6 PM MST Monday. Daytime temperatures will likely exceed 110° during this period. Avoid hiking between 10am and 4pm, as extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses.
