Isabella Rossellini kindly gave her permission to be featured in the latest Eve Arnold poster collection (link in bio).
Isabella also shared a memory of working with Eve on the set of the film “White Nights”:
“This photo was taken the day I did my first love scene in a film. I was offered a closed set which means anyone who doesn’t need to be on the set when a difficult scene is been shot is asked to leave. For a situation like this, a crew of approximately 120 people can be shrunk into 5 people! Eve was on special assignment for Magnum photo agency to take on-set pictures and she wanted to be among these absolutely necessary people which included the director, the camera man, the sound man and my love scene partner Gregory Hines. I was glad to have Eve around.
Eve took photo’s barefoot to make sure she was noticed and that she did not intrude. As a photo reporter she seizes images instead of arranging them and so, if she saw me even noticing the camera she stopped. I loved her presence around me. She had photographed Marilyn Monroe and Joan Crawford and she knew much more than I of the hardships of certain scenes. Her feminine presence and sensibility, both of which are present throughout her work, reassured me. On that day she felt like my guardian angel.”

The five images in this poster collection have been digitally remastered by bespoke printer, Danny Pope (@dp.thekeeper). Danny was Eve’s colour printer for many years and came to understand the exact qualities Eve wanted to bring out in her prints.
The aim with this collection was to recreate the analogue look and feel of the original dark room prints within the digital realm. This is something Danny is an expert in.
Michael Arnold: “Growing up around Eve I saw Danny’s prints all the time. For me they are synonymous with Eve’s work. I just forget sometimes that most people don’t get to see the original prints. And on a computer screen it’s just not the same. Danny’s done a beautiful job of bringing the depth, vibrancy and warmth of his dark room prints to these posters."
