After the anouncement of the first details, Spanish broadcaster, RTVE, has released the rules of the national selection, Benidorm Fest 2023.
Among the rules, in addition those of Eurovision 2023:
Spanish citizenship or permanent residence for soloists and at least 50% of the group members with at least a Spanish songwriter in each song.
Lyrics in Spanish or co-official languages. Other languages allowed but only until 40%. Unreleased and original tracks before 1th September.
Submission between 1/9-10/10 in two ways:
🔹Opened (web)
🔹Invitation of RTVE to songwriters and well-know artists.
Registration must include at least:
🔹Bio of authors and performers
🔹Song lyrics (pdf)
🔹Audio file (mp3 or mp4) of the song including voice and melody, ideas and audible guidelines for the final arrangement of the song.
A jury will choose among both submissions 16 semifinalists and 4 in reserve. They must send then the final version of their songs.
The performer(s) will sing his song live, without effects that distort the voice, accompanied by the recording of the instrumental base of the song that must be supplied to RTVE. Live or pre-recorded choirs
Voting in the shows:
🔹Jury (national + international):50%. More members this year with more importance of the international jury
🔹Demoscopic jury: 25%
🔹Televoting: 25%
In case of tie the jury voting will have priority to select the winner.
