Maybe it’s fun on TV, but it’s not so fun at the beach. Some shark species like Tiger sharks are showing up in new places, and signs point to climate change. Global warming has led to warmer oceans and rising sea levels, and higher CO2 levels are making oceans more acidic. The climate may change, but the shark’s preferences don’t. As northern oceans begin to reach that preferred 72 degree plus range, Tiger sharks (and their prey) are discovering new habitats, including beaches that were previously too cold for them. That species has shifted more than 200 miles closer to the poles! Forget a bigger boat, we’re going to need a cooler climate!
