Here is a very attractive looking corner of a large bedroom to spend part of Father’s Day morning in, perhaps watching television or sleeping in late. It features a diminutive marble mantel fireplace, above which hangs a 19th century antique French gold leaf mirror. A pair of 19th century hand colored engravings (Martinet?) of birds flanks the mirror. The ends of the fireplace mantel top have 19th century glass vases, balancing the wall grouping. Next to the bed and the fireplace is a very and well preserved 19th century antique Persian rug, which brings some warm colors of red and blue into the room, on top of white floor covering. The corner of the room is really quite attractive, with a built-in book case which holds both modern and antique leather bound books. The antique Louis VXI bergère in faded white paint, has an attractive blue, white and rose colored fabric. Next to the book shelves is a handsome mahogany and gilt bronze French Empire table with a marble top, four columns with ormolu mounts, a quatrefoil shaped lower shelf, and rests on gilt bronze paw feet. The top of the table is decorated colorfully with a lamp which has a bright red, blue and yellow pleated “ikat” style shade, an antique bronze and a clear glass container holding a very full bouquet of multi-colored small blooming flowers. There is even an antique duck decoy behind the table. The drapery fabric is very delicate, with a pink and green floral pattern on white, which is light and blends in nicely with the chair fabric and the bedspread colors of green, pink and blue. This is a lovely room from what we can see, and I am sure the rest of it is comfortable and lovely as well.
