It’s one of my favourite songs off the EP that I wrote, and I love how the band made it sound in this church. And thank you to @markklassen @hopelittle @dinattalla @tomhanleymusic @ewenlewis @saintclarens for filming and recording this performance. ASLEEP is a song that’s quite close to my heart. It’s about fighting through the rough patches in a relationship. When you get to know every little mundane detail of each other’s lives, it can be hard to remain interested in the other person the same way you were when you fell in love, and the relationship can become “sleepy”. When things go unsaid, resentments can grow, and eventually you find yourself being next to someone that you feel far away from. Keeping that spark alive takes work and constant trying and readjusting as dynamics between two people shift. When I was younger I thought love meant this fiery, passionate feeling all the time, but now I’ve come to know love as a steady burn. One that takes two people to continuously build and stoke.
