Last night, the UK Government attempted to deport asylum seekers based in the UK to Rwanda. These people had already faced unimaginable, horrific circumstances, and threats to their life and safety to get here - only to be turned away.
Thankfully, this horrific plan was halted at the last minute - just before the plane was scheduled to take off on a Ministry of Defence runway - after a legal injunction from the European Court of Human Rights.
We are grateful to every lawyer, activist, individual, charity and organisation that helped to halt these flights.
Priti Patel has said that she is disappointed at the failure of these deportations.
We must all keep fighting to ensure the UK Government rethinks this horrific policy.
We will all know someone who will disagree with us on this, the Rwanda Policy and Britain's immigration laws in general. It is vital that we don’t ignore questions, and that we are open to conversations around these topics. Education and empathy is key.
