Working from home is set to stay. Read on for our top tips on how to create a workspace that is not just pleasant to work in but is also organised too.
🛋️ Furniture
Avoid the temptation to purchase a desk that reminds you of a traditional office desk and instead opt for one that blends in with your home decor. Plenty of storage is important so bear this in mind when selecting your furniture, lots of shallow drawers are preferable to deep drawers so that it is easier to find what you are looking for without having to rummage.
✏️ Have a system
Creating yourself a to-do file and a completed file will help you avoid getting in a muddle and at the end of the day they can be easily tucked away if you prefer your working area to be uncluttered.
💱 Personalise
While your desk at work may have had a few personal photos, you were limited as to how much you could actually personalise your workspace. As online video meetings have become the norm many people will only ever meet you on screen so as long as the view they can see looks professional feel free to personalise the rest of your area. This may be through hanging your favourite artwork on the walls or by indulging your love of plants by surrounding yourself with greenery.
🤔 Think outside of your office
If you have lots of paperwork that you need to keep but which you don’t need daily access to then consider buying waterproof plastic boxes to store it in. These boxes can be kept in the shed or your garage so that you are not constantly having to work around the excess paperwork but can access it easily when you need to.
