Blood donors who are Black can make a huge difference in the lives of patients with #SickleCell disease. That’s because many patients may require regular blood transfusions to treat complications from the disease, like organ and tissue damage, severe pain, and strokes. It’s essential that the blood they receive be the most compatible match possible, which generally comes from someone of the same race or similar ethnicity.
