An unending and utter disgrace. Yeshiva University filed an emergency request with the Supreme Court on Monday to block a court order requiring them to recognize a "Pride Alliance" LGBTQ student club. In court papers, the school says that "As a deeply religious Jewish university, Yeshiva cannot comply with that order because doing so would violate its sincere religious beliefs about how to form its undergraduate students in Torah values."
We know, beyond any doubt, that attending queer affirming schools radically decreases suicide rates amongst queer young people. Pikuach nefesh is a jewish principle that states preservation of human life overrides absolutely any other religious rule of Judaism.
Denying students to the resources they need is deadly and distinctly unjewish.
