Unbelievably moved by @TransPrideLondon and SO glad I got to be there - especially by this sign. The Yiddish phrase means “we will outlive them” and comes from Poland in 1939 when a group of Hasidic Jews were ordered to back up against a fence of barbed wire and sing to their executions. The legend goes that they began to sing and dance joyously defying the Nazis as they demanded them to stop.
The idea behind the phrase is that in moments of oppression and trial know that we will outlive them and that in the end of the day we will win.
Awhile back @thomaspagemcbee wrote an article for @them.us about transphobia in the UK and I recommend reading it.
Constantly in awe of the UK trans community and so proud to have marched with you #lgbwiththet
