What happens when you put a bunch of marine social scientists on a sailing boat and make them sail along the coastline of the UK? Well… I am so excited to announce that the trailer for our @anthroposeaproject film spearhead by my amazing friend @_michellesanders is out soon! Head over to @anthroposeaproject to watch it tomorrow!
To this day @anthroposeaproject remains one the most exciting and important sailing expeditions I have had the pleasure to lead together with an inspiring group of scientists.
When we first came up with the idea for this project that would combine sailing, storytelling and social science during our time at @oxford_geography the idea of any discipline other than biology engaging with the oceans and marine conservation was still very abstract to many. Fast forward to over a year later we are proud to be part of the @marsocsci movement and to have launched our expedition in line with the beginning of the @unoceandecade!
Our oceans need lawyers, political scientists, anthropologists, economists, historians and all the other social science disciplines to teach and focus on what we like to call “blue issues” - after all, marine conservation challenges are mostly the result of human activities.
Head over to @anthroposeaproject for more information about intellectual diversity in the marine species, watch our trailer and get ready for the release of @_michellesanders film very soon!! You can also request a film screening in our website at www.anthroposea.com ⛵️
Thank you to Oliver and @sailbritain for enabling projects that seek to make impact and encourage people to think of our oceans differently through the lens of arts and science.
