Unique in its artistic approach, this exclusive TPG edition marks Juno Calypso’s final image from her acclaimed series ‘What To Do With A Million Years.’ This project centres around The Underground House – a unique location in Nebraska that Calypso discovered in 2018. Built by Avon cosmetic founder Jerry Henderson in the 1960s, this underground house bunker and its many pink interiors had been immaculately preserved since the 1970s. Calypso became its sole occupant, immersing herself in its perfectly-preserved Las Vegas décor, staging self-portraits in the different rooms. She also found herself surrounded by pamphlets and magazines detailing cryogenic innovation and musings on immortality, as well as some suspicious machinery. The Underground House’s owners had been on a quest for eternal life.
When thinking about this new edition, Juno chose to work with her favourite found image - a vernacular snapshot of the original master bedroom, completely saturated with pink decor and a crystal chandelier 🏩
