I think we are allowed to want more than just words from our elected officials. As a community member I send my whole heart to the victims and their families.. and see a wave of folks across the internet doing the same. And I feel this is meaningful. I also believe that one of the most vital ways to honor those lost is to advocate for actionable change that protects against the kind of violence that has become commonplace in this country. I feel enraged with the idea that sentiment is enough—while also holding pain for those that need to be lifted in warm thoughts and prayer most.
