Cartography is the study and practice of making and using maps. Combining science, aesthetics, and technique, cartography builds on the premise that reality (or an imagined reality) can be modeled in ways that communicate spatial information effectively... If I had lived 500 years ago I think Cartography might have been my thing...exploring, mapping, etc. Cartographers didn't only make maps, they illustrated most of the places they went to as well. Imagine being responsible for all the visual documentation of some great ship's explorations of unknown lands...what a buzz that must have been! . I also thought with the ai art debate raging online this subject matter was sorta like jumping in the irony boat. (which is a fun place) . A little less texture on these ones and more detail, they took a lot longer than normal. Lots of illustrations within the illustrations which I also love.
