Today is a solemn day in the fight for women’s rights in the U.S. and around the globe as Roe v. Wade was overturned after 50 years. While there are of course immediate consequences for people living in states that now ban abortion, we may also see a ripple effect globally on women’s access to reproductive health and rights, which could impact women and young girls seeking HIV prevention and treatment services.
Fighting gender inequality is key to preventing HIV infections and deaths and this ruling moves us all further away from that goal and deeper into a gravely unjust world.
