While there are of course immediate consequences for people living in states that now ban abortion, we may also see a ripple effect globally on women’s access to reproductive health and rights, which could impact women and young girls seeking HIV prevention and treatment services.⁣ ⁣ Fighting gender inequality is key to preventing HIV infections and deaths and this ruling moves us all further away from that goal and deeper into a gravely unjust world.
