Two things to know about Jahmicah Dawes (@thebuffaloangler): First, he is a born-and-raised Texan. Second, he has always followed his dreams. Today, those dreams have led him to the sleepy Texas town of Stephenville, where he is the owner of Slim Pickins Outfitters (@spoutfitter), the nation’s first Black-owned outdoor specialty shop. But that dream doesn’t end at the front door of his shop. Dawes is looking to do something bigger than just sell some gear—he wants to create a welcoming and vibrant outdoor community in a land of cattle ranches, cowboy hats and stock ponds.
