Though there are 42 billion tons of greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere annually, the reason we still have relative climatic stability is due to ecosystems—forests, wetlands, grasslands, coral reefs, mangroves, marshes, lakes, oceans, and tundra. Remove insects from ecosystems and they fall apart and fail. . To quote history’s greatest entomologist, E.O.
