Candice Bergen at the Academy Awards, 1973. I just love this image. I think it's because you'd never see anyone today look so fresh and natural at the Oscar's. Everyone is pinched, pulled and styled within an inch of their lives. It all feels so contrived and ultimately not terribly chic or glamorous. I'm sure Candice spent time getting ready but the trick is she has an effortless look to her hair, clean make up and even halter style dress that doesn't scream my beauty squad arrived at 5am and I've spent the last 2 months with a team of dieticians and nutritionists. Message to celebs and their stylists: this is what you should be going for. More of a I just woke up like this vibe. I used to live for the Oscars and the arrivals.
