Creatine is beyond bodybuilding or #gains, bro 🥩. It’s a legitimate energy source made from the combination of 3 amino acids - arginine, methionine, and glycine then interacting with methylation.

It provides cellular energy > ATP - not only in muscle tissues with that intracellular hydration (pump) but supports performance, strength, + increased recovery rates. BUT from an integrated health system perspective, creatine is needed for imm une function + neuroprotective and development and cognition/ memory.
Lower creatine intake from endogenous rich creatine forming amino acid food sources) is associated with increased risks of depression, especially with females 💃 (the study was not from a supplement perspective)
Creatine also supports the management of blood glucose - supports testosterone levels, and also bone health.
Creatine can be made endogenously (internally). We have a supply pool that can be recycled - we need to supply or invest in the raw ingredients being - amino acids which can depend on stress / cellular nutrient uptake/absorption (low sodium diets - big issue) / muscle mass and training!
I am not going to 💩 on vegans, but it’s much harder to attain adequate methionine and glycine but not impossible.
Interestingly enough, vegans and vegetarians have more association of higher homocysteine levels correlated with cardiovascular disease risks and connected to methylation cycles. Creatine takes up around 80% of the methylated carbon groups, so what’s leftover to make antioxidants like glutathione (also shown to be lower on vegan-orientated diets) becomes more difficult.
You don’t need to be a meathead to get your amino acids in. The more you train, the more protein you need to replenish. But you have physiological requirements. Again, females are likely more at risk, especially with estrogen in the mix and entering perimenopause.
You can always supplement - and it’s the most supported and used in the health space. I wouldn’t be against it, but I would also ensure you are eating the REAL nutrient-dense foods 🥩🥚🦞 first as they have other significant benefits!
Eat real food first.
