Another mini think piece, post-reflection on #InternationalWomensDay
Introducing, The Vixen Paradox:
People tend to assume that if you monetize your own sexualization (something most women experience throughout life whether or not they ever profit in return), you can’t possibly have anything else to offer. Yet when you prove them otherwise, they insist you’re “too good” for the former, as if the concepts of being intelligent & “selling sexy” must be mutually exclusive.
Some of the most impressive hustlers I’ve ever known have been SWs & lingerie models, yet they’re still consistently portrayed by the media as one-dimensional, damaged, or vapid individuals, in need of saving. Meanwhile IRL, the most intuitive, empathetic, radical, and emotionally developed people out there are the ones who’ve learned to finesse the systems not built for them. You’re just mad when the perceived power you get from non-consensually objectifying others is shifted back into their hands.
Women (including trans folk) around the world are abused and denied equal rights, yet you’re so inclined to put down the liberated ones, because to any person in a structural position of privilege, equality may compromise what’s always been handed to you. That includes the fallacy that women owe you politeness or modesty in order to deserve respect.
Patriarchal ideals f*ck us all - men included, considering the taboos still surrounding mental health & relational issues. So choose your battles more wisely, young misogynist. The ones you should be fighting are within.
