I met Endy seated on a white plastic chair outside a hastily built warung (restaurant) in Lamno, Sumatra. A laborer, he was the only member of his family to survive the tsunami. To cope with trauma, Endy painted what he witnessed on 26 December 2004. He wasn’t selling the painting. It was too personal. This trauma is still carried by everyone who lived to remember that day. The first three photographs in this album need no explanation.
